Final Digital Portfolio
My mother often reminisces how my grandfather and his camera were inseparable. Growing up, I quickly became accustomed to the sound of the shutter clicking while he grumbled at me to quit moving. Each year albums stuffed with hundreds of photos would arrive at our house and I relished in spending hours on the couch reliving every instant, my memory welcoming back each intimate moment that had once slipped away. As my grandfather grew older his consciousness began to fade, and these photos were his way of cherishing each interaction with others, allowing him to preserve memories while his mind fought to destroy them. After watching Alzheimer's manipulate confusion into his thoughts and obliterate his mind of familiarity, I realized the significance fleeting moments held in our lives. A quiet laugh shared between sisters or the quick kiss on your head from your mother, these seemingly insignificant moments embodied the most purest intention: love. For me, these small, intimate moments were imperative in building my artistic style. Over the years of studying photography, my focus has always been simple: to capture moments of indescribable cognizance. My strongest places of inspiration have come from nature’s effortless beauty, it’s pure existence has always enticed me, and from moments of clarity and realization within people. I think I will always continue to take photographs because my curiosity and admiration of the world is something that I will carry with me forever.
